Our Activity Based Learning is a method where teachers and students from ages 18 months to 11 years, experience the learning process collaboratively. The teachers are mostly there to prepare the environment and facilitate the learning process for exploration of concepts and ideas. This is far from what obtains in other schools where teachers are stills the only sage in the classroom. Educational research into brain development and learning process, the deeper and the richer the learning experience. Students are active investigator of their environment.
This natural nature is what this learning methodology taps into to bring about effective teaching and learning. This method gives reality to meaning and it takes care of all the different learning styles in the classrooms. So, no child is left behind in hos learning. During Activity-Based Learning class, the students own their learning. Through this learning methodology, they acquire the 21st century skills of critical thinking, collaboration, Communication, creativity amongst other skills.
Homework is set regularly and in all subjects, with increasing degree of dedication as students get older. We monitor the homework being set to maintain high standards.
We also insist on students recording their homework their personal planers and ask parents to check these every day. We encourage parents to support their child by providing a quiet space and time for homework, taking an interest in the set tasks and providing praise and encouragement.
The quality of our enrichment and extra-curricular activities is very intense with a cross-curricula nature. There is an exciting programme of sporting and creative activities as well as adventurous activities, such as swimming, Karate, Ballet amongst others.
The school accepts students between the age of 18 months and 11 years.
For your child to get qualified for enrollment in our school, He or she must be of a minimum age by 1st September of the school year.
18 months to 5 years
In Pre-school, our methodology is committed to serving children of
all religious and ethnic backgrounds between the ages of 2 to 5
years. We follow the basic of Art of Phonetic, Music and Movement,
Dance, Gymnastics, Computer and outdoor play activities.
In our classrooms we use age-appropriate activities and learning
tools, to create a flexible environment to meet the needs and
interests of every child in our care. While we strongly feel that
Pre-school years need to be full of Nurturing and Praise, we take
pride in teaching independence and preparing our children for the
years ahead of them.
The Elementary Section of Chizylite Academy runs a curriculum that is child-centered, teacher friendly - and it is used to enable your child to take responsibility for his or her learning by involving in activities such as planning, researching, recording, and interacting with teachers and other students.
5 to 10 years
Teaching from the age of 5 is by subject and is conducted by qualified staff, with our classes average around 20 pupils.
The Elementary School curriculum, in addition to the core subjects of English, Mathematics and science, includes history, geography, information technology, music, art, French and Nigerian Cultural Studies.
In the Early Elementary, which is preparatory 3 - Grade 2, our pupils receive optimum education that enhances their development of core skills in literacy and numeracy. In a case whereby a child is experiencing difficulties in learning, our school offers a Learning-Support Programme (LSP), and this programme is one of the reasons Why we do what we do in Chizylite Academy
Our aim is to make school enjoyable for our pupils; so we incorporate fun into learning and structure our learning environment to make learning easy for our pupils.
We guide and encourage positive behaviour among peers and promote
collaboration through group activities. We introduce our pupils to
a foreign Language, thereby offering them an opportunity to learn
a unique form of Communication
We engage due pupils in activities that enable them to develop
self-confidence.
The Senior Elementary School is from Grade 3 to Grade 5. The
lessons taught in these classes build on the Early Elementary
School's lessons, with the addition of new knowledge and skill
training. Using the curriculum, our teachers expand on the core
literacy and numeracy knowledge and teach our pupils how to use
the knowledge to solve problems. Your child will also be exposed
to use of information Communication Technology, in order to equip
him or her with hands-on experience on the latest technology.
Aside from academics, we guide our students towards attaining
self-displicine and personal organisation. Once a child joins us
in Grade 3, we focus on raising the level of behavioural
expectations, by guiding the child on how to be responsible.
